Nail Art : Nails that got inspired by YSL

im a huge fan of manicure and pedicure... its something that noone really notices but definately gives me a lot of satisfaction! u become a bit obsessed with looking at your own nails haha whenever im bored, i will look down to my nails and smile....:) ok sorry i sound a bit freaky now !

the problem with nail polish is that they scratch off within a day and makes your nails yellow... so ive moved onto acrylic nails which lasts for a month. For those who dont know what acrylic gel nails are : basically your nails are covered by a layer of acrylic and when placed under uv light, they turn into rock hard plastic! so now i dig my nails into everything without having to worry about chipping them but downside is the nails are a lot thicker now and dropping cards and coins onto the ground makes it impossible to pick up

anyway im NOT here to persuade people to go into acrylic nails as you will be addicted to it, ive had it for 3 yrs now and i dont see a day when i will have my own nails back... it sounds pretty scary huh??

so today i would like to announce.... i will start my nail art collection!

No 1: YSL inspired : base layer is dark blue.. sprinkled in the middle is electric blue glitter and on the tip is silver glitter.....you can do this for normal nail polish too!

YSL uses a lot of blue in their collections... love the blues they use...

my lovely nails with neatly trimmed cuticles :)

sunset view from on the way to nail parlour ... beautiful!

Skinny Jeans for Babies?!!!

Read an article through WSJ recently about skinny jeans for babies (from zero to 3 months even!!!!). The children's apparel industry is growing at a significant pace over the last year (5.3% compared to 1.4% for apparel on average) according to Mastercard Spending Advisors. They key manufacturers of skinny jeans for babies include Gap Inc, American Eagle Outfitter Inc's 77kids J. Crew's Crewcuts, True Religion and Levi's.

So I understand mom's wants their kids to look cool, they can dress them up, set the trends and am willing to spend a load of money on their kids rather than themselves but is it really necessary? Are these parents projecting their own 'wannabe' image onto their kids? Just like how they want them to grow up to become a celebrity since they couldn't be one themselves? (stereotyping here)
According to the article, these jeans are tested and feedback received from parents to make sure the babies can crawl and move around in them. I guess I'm just curious to know whether there are any health issues here. Blood circulation? Does it send the wrong message to the kid to have to be skinny? Would the parents force the kid to go on a diet so that they could fit in the jeans to look cool? How financially practical is it? - I would assume that the kid would grow out of the jeans relatively quickly...

I personally think it's the parent's choice to put their kids in whatever and kids look adorable in anything they wear!!!!! I guess without knowing alot of technical information about the jeans themselves, I can't judge whether it's actually an issue to the babies' growth. If it does, then it's definitely detrimental and inappropriate!!!

What do you think of skinny jeans for babies? Cool or Not Cool?

Tamara Mellon (Jimmy choo's co founder)'s Daughter is a very lucky girl

While working away like a dog in the office, i was thinking who I want to be in my next life.... after some bludging (no... i would say a "no reason" break ... works in the same theory as smoke breaks... and i dont get why the people that dont actually smoke gets stuck in the office !!) i was just browsing through harper's bazaar.... i found who I want to be in my next life (for this moment anyways.... i change it from time to time... im a girl... im allowed to do it!)

Its Minty Mellon.... cool name! why? (see pic)

Pretty self explanatory why... (if you want to feel jealous to the peak check out the whole album http://www.harpersbazaar.com/magazine/feature-articles/tamara-mellon-apartment-pictures-0910?click=pp) tamara said in her interview with bazaar, shes gonna pass her whole collection of shoes (over 1000 pairs) to her daughter .......... **DROOL** .. im finding it tough to even own a pair!

So i was looking at this pic and thought what made my eyes wide opened ...is the amount of shoes shes got to categorise her shoe collection by colour.... hmmmm i can hardly do this with my clothes let alone shoes!!

heres an a bit more about tamara if you are interested : http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/fashion/article5390414.ece

Marc Jacobs Online Store FINALLY (Gap also expanding globally)

Marc Jacobs is setting up his own e-commerce site that will sell exclusive items not available in department stores or his own boutiques.

FINALLY!!!! Don't know about you but I'm definitely a multi-channel consumer. I prefer to browse online first then buy it in person. This will HELP ALOT when I buy MJ or MMJ stuff in the future.
Research has shown that multi-channel behavior drives sales in physical retail stores as well. Now I wonder if this is available for international customers? If it's not, then that's another step they should look into. Even Gap is expanding their e-commerce capabilities recently to over 60 countries globally. Also, I wonder how much shipping will be, so many websites offer free shipping now. Don't disappoint us!!!

According to this NYTIMES article, these brands will also have products available for sale online soon.
  • Jimmy Choo
  • Hugo Boss
  • LancĂ´me
  • St. John
  • Theory
  • Kiehl’s
  • Lilly Pulitzer
  • Donna Karan
  • La Perla
It's about time people!!!! Give consumers OPTIONS!!!! Hooray to e-commerce!!!!

What else would you like brands to offer when you shop online?

Have to watch!!!!!!!

Michael Jackson - Beat It (Communism Party version). HILARIOUS.

Shape Up Sneakers

Everything is about being healthy now, organic food and materials, regular exercise routines and all these different vitamins and supplements but true to heart, which girl really 100% dedicated to an healthy diet or exercise routine purely for their health?? Half of the reason is to keep a good slim body (yes and it totally includes myself... ) so now the market is flooded with all these products which supposedly miraculously shape up your body including these shape up sneakers!

supposedly these sneakers are to exercise your whole body (see video http://us.mbt.com/Home/Benefits.aspx) and they suppose to also correct your bad posture as well!! if you are thinking these would be at the price of a normal pair of sneakers.... sorry pal.... nothing is for free ... the more functions things have, the more pricey it will be... MBTs are a whopping USD235!!

To make this UGLY (only my opinion) product marketable, so many try to dress them in a stylish way so you can wear it everyday and get your USD235 money's worth!

what will make me buy will be if some model can show how it made her lose 20 pounds wearing these (gemma ward can be their embassador??).... im sure it will be a sell out!!

conclusion: theres somethings that can never be stylish.... sorry... no buy for me!

In search for....a Perfect but Affordable Men's Bag

I've been searching for a fashionable and yet 'professional' men's working bag for awhile now. . My criteria for this bag is not that stringent but it consists of the following:
  • Strong enough to carry my laptop. Even though I have a netbook, the bag still has to be strong enough to be able to carry the weight of my computer and books etc
  • Has to have a handle for me to hand carry
  • Preferably 'leather' looking - more for the work environment
  • Should strap would be ideal since I get tired carrying by hand all the time
  • Lots of pockets inside and outside because I generally have a lot of crap I put in my bag
  • Unique and fashionable but not TOO fashion forward - I know this is a totally subjective point but something that oozes COOL would be nice. I can't be too fashion forward at work so something classic mixed with a twist would be great!
  • Last but not least - AFFORDABLE. I have a normal job with a normal income. I cannot afford to buy Burberry or Bally or Dunhill all the time (not even sure I would buy those brands anyway....). I'm thinking somewhere between USD$250 to $500 is OK for a bag that I will use daily.
So I've been keeping my eyes open and searching and searching and searching. Some of the brands I looked at included:

  • Tumi - totally famous for functional and sophisticated bags, great if you're a banker or the likes but for me, it's not really on the cool side.
  • Coach - I know they recently launched a men's line and it's not horrible. However, everytime I think of Coach, I feel like it's a women's line. Need to adjust my thinking.
  • Mandarina Duck / Y3 - I like the simple designs and shapes but like $600 - $700 for a nylon bag? Not sure if I want that.
  • Diesel / Fred Perry / Ted Baker - I love these brands but slightly too fashion forward to carry to work.
  • Others (J Crew, Banana Republic, Club Monaco, Zara etc) - These are more mass market stuff and while they're nice and affordable, they just don't stand out for me and breaks too easily....I've tried.
But I do have my favorite brands for bags and I wish I had a perfect bag that is a mix of everything...
  • Matt and Nat - I like the fact that they are eco-friendly and vegan, unique designs too. Not really work focused designs...
  • Jack Spade - I've loved their bags from their launch many years ago...I personally own a few. I think they are constructed well and lasts forever. It's not very practical though...
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs - these are hip and cool. the material used aren't the best but it's affordable and fancy designs for what it is. I do think it's becoming more mass though.
  • Mulberry - I want a Mulberry bag!!! It's so classic and I love the material. It can be slightly boring at times...and slightly pricey

So I am still searching for that affordable but stylish men's work bag. I think there is certainly a market for a company that does unique but fashionable men's bags!!! I know I know, I think I'm too picky and asking for too much.

But do you have any suggestions for me?

Any obscure brands but fits the criteria is totally OK with me!!!!
